The book tells the true story of this epic naval operation, mounted in 1942 to relieve Malta from the onslaught of attacks by the forces of the Axis. This operation, codenamed ‘Pedestal’, is today commonly referred to as ‘il-Convoy ta’ Santa Marija’. The book also includes information about the stamp issue. ‘Il-Convoy ta’ Santa Marija’ is undoubtedly an iconic landmark event in the history of Malta and it is therefore only fitting that those who paid the ultimate price in this operation. We will remember them.
